The NJ Rail App: Real-time Departure Information for NJ Transit Rail Stations

The NJ Rail app was developed to provide users with up-to-date departure information for NJ Transit Rail stations. This comprehensive app offers essential details such as destination, departure time, train number, track number, train line/route name, and status. The status feature includes a countdown to train arrival or departure, starting at 30 minutes.

Do you want to know if a train is an express or a local? Simply tap on the departure information and you'll have access to all upcoming station stops, along with estimated arrival times. These arrival times are automatically adjusted to reflect any delays encountered during the journey.

 Q: Is the NJ Rail app a substitute for NJ Transit Alerts?
 A: No, we highly recommend that all customers sign up for alerts and advisories through NJ Transit. While the NJ Rail app provides accurate train statuses, it does not have the capability to explain incidents or offer travel advice.

 Q: Sometimes there are slight differences between the NJ Rail app and the departure board in my station. Which is more accurate?
 A: Although the NJ Rail app is updated multiple times a minute, during major service disruptions, it may experience challenges in obtaining precise data from NJ Transit. In such cases, it is advisable to consider the in-station information as more accurate.
